  Philosophy Statement  We recognize that early childhood represents a critical stage of development, during which children lay the groundwork for lifelong learning, behavior, and health. Our program is founded on the belief that each child is a unique individual deserving of a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and a passion for learning. “A program's philosophy represents the core values and culture of an organization and determines the roles staff members and parents will play in the care and education of the children enrolled there” (Gadikowski, 2019, section 1.4).   We have embraced a child-centered, play-based approach to education that nurtures the whole child—cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically.   Describe where you wish to be after the completion of your degree. My goal is to complete my bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and then enroll in a special education certification program at my local university. Afterward, I plan to pursue part-time teaching opportunities and work towards obtaining a secondary education degree. Once I have completed my secondary education degree, I will apply for a first-grade teaching position. I intend to change the grade level I teach every few years. After 10 to 20 years in the field, I plan to apply for a principal or vice-principal position, with the aim of retiring in my early 70s.. Professional Presence and Responsibilities

What it means to be a professional in early childhood education. What it means to be a professional in early childhood education means you hold yourself to your own set of ethics and what you are qualified to do. I will be a professional by being prepared and dressed appropriately for that day. I will properly greet students with a warm and inviting atmosphere. “Teachers who see themselves as professionals share some specific characteristics, such as having specialized training in early childhood education, having a particular knowledge base and theoretical foundation, and adhering to a defined code of ethics” (Essa & Burnham, 2020, Pg. 78).
